an unexpected note
last month, i logged in to find FransMensinkArtist had sent me a message, so i did as anyone else would and went "ah! note from a famous artist!", panicked, and hid under the table.
actually, it was that he had come across the world-in-peril meme, and very politely asked me if his take on it was ok or whether he was overstepping the boundaries, before posting it. it was really nice of him to contact me, and of course kinky entries to save the world are really not a problem (to put it super-mildly) so i encouraged him to post away his pic is below (and as ever, original credit for the idea of the world in peril goes to Patches67)

more kitty-maids
the world in peril / kitty-maid meme started back in, what, early 2013, maybe? and yet new people are still coming across it and joining in. i don't know whether it was the combination of cat ears and maid costumes, the complete inexplicability of it, or just the generally loopy nature it acquired, but somehow it keeps rolling on (my journal trying to keep track of them is pushing towards 200 different maid kitties), so every time i forget about it or move on, something new pops up a few months later, showing the fire's still burning somewhere. i'm not sure whether i'll keep on updating that journal indefinitely, but it's nice that people are still amusing themselves with it... CORE membership
i was a bit surprised to see this change slip in under the radar, given how much effort dA's team go into keeping up updated about tweaks and improvements (which i appreciate) and how much the management like to waffle pretentiously about each unappealing rebrand. it seems all of us erstwhile premium members are now "core members"... which is kinda amusing since now at the top of the page it says "caregan_CORE which sounds like it ought to be a musical genre. or possibly an insult "it's so much softer than softcore, it's caregancore". but then jollyjack pointed out that "core" membership is suddenly more expensive than the old premium membership, and that this might be the motive for the silent roll-out. i can't see how much more expensive it is, since the page now just tells me that i am already subscribed and doesn't display the subscription options. anyone seen what the damage is?

anyway, i guess it's better than the gushingly vacuous "zeviantart" business... though i wouldn't mind the alternatives of caregan_CAW, in which you gain the ability to shapeshift to a crow, or possibly caregan_COR in which all your comments are read out in a bad mockney accent.
