i have mixed feelings about AI art. in a way, machine-assisted art is nothing new: i couldn't draw the way i do without photoshop, and a 3D artist would kinda struggle without their 3D programs. so you could say that the current crop of generative AI art is just another step into further dependence on machine-assisted tools. But. i was looking at the dA mainpage just now and there were a fair number of really well-generated AI pieces.... but i was struck by two things (and then a third). they are all incredibly simple in terms of theme and story. sure, there might be a lot of detail, or it has generated an accurate portrayal of a known character, but they tell us nothing. if you ask for nothing more than "famous character X in generic fetish Y" then fine. but if that's all you want from this then you're pretty dull. i haven't seen a single piece of AI art yet which communicates emotion, the character's feelings in relation to their situation, or any story. and those are the things
the inaccurate stats in eclipse are truly hopeless
i know i've spent three years complaining about this, but it is just so shitty that a service which i am paying for is so far inferior to what it was in the past, and that even the limited service that is left is so poorly made as to be unusable. so: even if we set aside that the stats function in classic dA was far more fully featured, up-to-date, and comprehensive both in function and time period covered, the stats page in eclipse is so inaccurate that the numbers are meaningless. i waited for well clear of a day after posting the last pic (as it takes ages for them to show up at all), then set the time period to the full year to make sure it picked up all activity... and then i compared the numbers on the stats page to those on the deviation itself. now you're going to say "it's no surprise that the numbers for mistaken identity are lower on the stats page than the deviation, because it takes a day for them to feed through." Sure: the difference between the 167 faves on the stats

wow, thank you for all the comments and favourites in the last few days! it's been so nice to hear from loads of you again :D 1. premium downloads for pretend money! also thank you to whoever bought a load of my premium downloads: i had honestly forgotten they existed so it was a very nice surprise. i've always committed to making and sharing art for free but i do have some collections of higher resolution art, variant pics etc. which you can buy for a handful of dA points, which i then use to support core membership here. according to my earnings page, apparently there are premium versions of the following pics: 2. new art coming! one of the reasons i didn't draw anything during the pandemic was because i had a bunch of unfinished pics from before, and i felt completely blocked by them: i couldn't finish them, but i couldn't throw them out and start on something new either. it was generally sucky. however, GOOD NEWS EVERYONE because i forced myself to finish them all this
dA is broken, and this group broke with it
the new eclipse website is completely broken and unusable. i couldn't even find how to navigate to my own group and had to search for it manually. with functionality this broken, i really doubt that dA will properly send me notificaitons of submissions to the group. for that reason, please consider sweetkinks broken for now, along with every other part of this site. sad times.
